TaleWorlds Entertainment have rolled out some updates for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. The new updates cover the game’s custom battles, as well as some of the work being implemented into the audio design portion of the game.
The custom battles were detailed in a blog post over on officiële website, which explains that outside of the campaign mode, the game will feature a custom battle mode where players will be able to customize which factions will be able to face off against each other, what location the battle will take place in, the strength of the walls, the siege weapons, and what sort of units will appear in within each faction doing battle.
In the custom battle mode, you’ll be able to play either as a commander, which will allow you to control the formation, strategy, and tactics of your troops, or as a captain under the command of an AI commander.
Additionally, TaleWorlds released some new footage giving gamers a short demonstration of the enhanced, overhauled audio design, which you can check out below as part of the news recap from YouTuber Ser Medieval.
The clip at the end of the video gives a quick example of how the enhanced audio design will help bring the ambiance of the game world to life, including spatial effects based on player positioning and effect distance, as well as binaural voices for when you’re clashing against opponents and when shouting out commands. This means that when you hear other soldiers on the battlefield you’ll have a better idea of their positioning, and what sort of equipment they might be rocking.
We don’t get updates on Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord often, but it looks like the game is being developed at a steady pace where the developers are putting quality before quantity.
